Stay for a night in Edam-Volendam on the former Zuiderzee (IJsselmeer) 20 km from Amsterdam.
You will stay in a private house on a quiet location with a good Dutch breakfast. We will personally inform you about the possibility to make short trips in the neighborhood and it is a very good possibility to visit Amsterdam.
By car it takes 15 minutes, and if you don't want parking problems, you can easily travel by public transport (5 busses in one hour, travelling time 25 minutes) and Saturday night the busses run all night between Edam-Volendam and Amsterdam City.
The bed & breakfast prices are much cheaper than in Amsterdam. The picturesque town of Edam is famous for its cheese and the cheese market helt every Wednesday during the season. The fishing village of Volendam is famous for its local traditional costumes and the fish. Also a picture of you in Volendam costume should have a place in your album. The Marken-Express takes you for a pleasant boattrip to the former island of Marken. The Zaanse Schans, famous for the windmills and the green-colored houses is only 20 minutes from Edam-Volendam.
It is also nice to rent a bike and see this lovely county on separate bike-paths trough the small villages of Waterland. A daytrip to the flowers in Keukenhof, or visiting Den Haag or Rotterdam, is from Edam-Volendam a piece of cake. You can call, or e-mail us for reservation of information.
